Lime Crime Velvetines Review

Lime Crime's Velvetines were released a few months ago and after a few weeks of using this product, I can safely give a very honest review.

These Velvetines come in a bottle much like a lipgloss and the applicator is no different. They come on wet but stick on dry.

Generally, they stick on much better than lipstick. I use these products when I work in retail (with a high traffic flow) and they don't budge.

However, I noticed the Velvetines have a different lasting power to each other. The Pink and Red Velvets have the weaker staying power while Wicked is much better and Salem being the best. I was eating a burger as I normally do while wearing Salem and it didn't budge at all. But every other time when I eat/drink with the other lip stains, I ended up just removing the colour. This can be quite annoying sometimes because parts of the lip stain remain on my lip and it looks real weird.

Despite this, I still love using the product and will opt to purchasing more.

Shake Up The Blog!

It's hard to believe how quickly time flies. Almost two years have passed since I made my last post but I'm happy to say that I am back and to start things off, I am going to be a bit different and post a delicious simple recipe that I like to use after I work out.

Something new about me (in terms of this blog at least) is that I enjoy fitness activities and working out. I lift weights and I enjoy running. These strenuous activities need a good replenisher and the following is something I like to take. It's very filling too!

What you will need:

Blueberries
Banana
Cashews
Milk
Protein Powder

Blend all these ingredients together and BAM!

Let me know if you try this out! I just love it :)

Hello There!

Wow it's amazing to see that this blog has almost reached 2,000 page views despite not updating in months! Thank you to all those who have dropped by and to those who (used to) check up on me when I was a consistent blogger <3

The reason I have been away is because, as you know from my post below, I have been working on my small business. Since the last post I have added a new line to my products - paper craft portraits.

And I am having a little competition! (Open to Australian residents only). Below is one of the items you could win! Please click here to enter or visit my Facebook page. Thank you!

If you would like to have a look at them just head to my facebook page or website :)

Don't worry I hope to get back to this blog once I have a good flow going.

Kalo Hair Growth Inhibitor - Post Epilating Spray Review

Warning* I have read a few controversies with this product. Please, like always, do research before using any product.

Cost (US):
$82.75 (two pack, online)

Packaging: The Kalo that I have comes in a spray bottle. I bought two of these and one spray didn't work very well. They also come in cream form.

Use: The spray bottles are generally used for larger areas like legs, whilst the cream is used for the smaller areas like under arm. However, you can use either product on either area.

It's best to use this after a wax or epilation to allow the product to go right down into the follicle to destroy it. You can also shave if you don't like pain. It won't work as effectively but it still works.

The day you remove the hairs, you are supposed to massage the product three times and another three times the next day on the desired areas. It takes about four to six treatments to see desire effects.

I haven't been great at using this and my application is very inconsistent, where sometimes I would only apply once in weeks. However, Kalo is very effective in stumping the growth of my hairs and some areas I could swear there's no more growth.

When using the spray bottle sometimes a few drops of the products falls on the floor so I leave a towel underneath me.

Conclusion: If I used this product properly I'm pretty sure it would either make the hairs grow really slow or not at all. I really like it and so far it has worked pretty well considering I'm not dedicated with using it.

STOP S.O.P.A. (Stop Online Piracy Act)

A few years ago when the Australian government tried to pass an Internet filter, which aimed at blocking websites that were refused classification, Australians were furious. They knew that if this passed, not only would websites that are refused classification be censored but the right to free speech and information would be in danger. How will we know what has been banned?

And now America is trying to pull the same thing but under the guise of protecting copy right. They also go a step further in that this could affect ANYONE around the world. If you own a website or have your own blog that talks about your favourite songs, movies, television shows, no matter which country you are in, you may be asked by someone in America to remove the content or have your site taken down.

Let's spread the word and show them that we don't want this to pass. For more information, check out this Wiki article.

Cool Betty Mascara Review

Warning: For those worried about ingredients in their products, I have to tell you that Cool Betty Mascara has Phenoxyethanol as one. This ingredient is usually used in cosmetic products and I have read online it can be linked to a few reactions. I'm no professional in this area so please do research for yourself.

This may be a good place to start reading.

Would I still use this product? Yes as I received no reaction but I would probably use this a lot less.

Cost (Aus): $19.95 (special - buy one get one free)

Packaging: There are two tubes, one for the mini fibres and one for the mascara. The tubes are covered in a lovely and sexy leopard design.

Staying Power: They stay thick and long all day.

Use: This product isn't like the more well known two-step mascara products. As mentioned they use mini fibres only for step one, probably about less than 5mm each, instead of a cream based primer or mix. I applied them normally as I would with a two-step mascara. It didn't work well because the fibres weren't sticking onto my lashes. So I decided I put a light layer of the Cool Betty mascara as a sticky base for the fibres. This worked and the fibres built up. I find that if I want a really thick and long lash, I have to repeat the step of fibre then mascara a few times because as you apply more fibres, it becomes less sticky. It's not the best having to repeat the steps but it works great. My lashes become a lot longer using fibres than cream based primer.

Cool Betty doesn't separate your lashes that great so another thing you can do when applying the base for the fibres is use something like Maybelline XXL Pro mascara, step 1. Or you can use an eye lash brush to separate them.  I prefer to use Maybelline though because I feel this is a lot more effective in keeping my lashes separated.

You have to be insanely careful when applying the fibres. The first time I used this I was so excited and rushed it. This caused a lot of the fibres to fall into my eye. Fortunately my eyes are not sensitive and there was no reaction to the fibres but it was very uncomfortable. I find it easier when I look down when applying the fibres so if any fall, it falls away from my eye.

Conclusion: I really love this product! And for only $20 for two sets, you can't go wrong. A lot of high end mascaras are about $20 for one. I can make my lashes really, really long if I wanted or I could just make it thick depending on how I apply it. The problem though are the fibres that may fall into your eye if you rush, so take your time with this. Another problem is that there are two individual tubes so those who enjoy convenience may not like it. However, I feel the result is worth it (if there's no fibre in your eyes)!
