Make Up - Circus Party

"She ran away but found herself in circles."

Products used:

Primer: Lime Crime Candy Eyed Primer
Eyeshadow:
(Lime Crime) Empress, Troubadour, Abracadabra, Nymph

Eye Liner: Maybelline Line Definer Noir - Black Eyeliner
Mascara: Maybelline XXL Pro Extension

This is an old look, which I made a few months ago. It was my first time using Lime Crime's loose eyeshadow and it was fun. I had no real plans with this style except that I want to experiment with quite a few colours. I got the name of this look from a good friend of mine who is also an avid make up lover. In fact, she helps me a lot with making decisions when it comes to make up and has introduced me to a few products. <3

L'OREAL Paris High Intensity Pigments (H.I.P.) - Metallic Shadow Duo - Electrified 510 Review

Cost (Aus): $19.95 or US $7.12 (online)

Packaging: This pallete comes in a circular hard plastic package and even boasts a compartment below which holds  a small brush for application. I really like this compartment because it is large enough to hold small earrings, a necklace or whatever small thing you may fancy - of course, remove the brush.

Pigmentation: As the name suggests, L'Oreal Paris' H.I.P. line is supposed to be 'high intensity'. I find that description quite misleading. While yes you could say the pigmentation is great because the colour you get when you apply the shadow is the same as that in the pallete, it lacks being as eye popping as say, Sugarpill, which does boast high pigmented colours and does provide what it says. I still like the colour combination of this duo eye shadow though.

Conclusion: I think the pricing for this product is quite steep considering you could buy a four colour pallete cheaper (see Maybelline New York Expert Wear Eyeshadow - Charcoal Smokes Review). However, I do enjoy the colour combination and it's great to use when I just want a more 'relaxed' and simple make up style.

(Sugarpill)
Dollipop, Midori, Buttercupcake, (Lime Crime) Medusa, Nymph
Eye Liner: Maybelline Line Definer Noir - Black Eyeliner, Nutrimetics Defining Eye Pencil Jet

This look was inspired by Sailor Jupitor's (from the anime "Sailor Moon") fighting costume. I think her colour combination was my all time favourite from all the Sailor Scouts.

Maybelline New York Expert Wear Eyeshadow - Charcoal Smokes Review

Cost (US): $5.99 (Kmart Online)

Packaging: Maybelline's Expert Wear Eyeshadows come in a compact sized pallete. The material is a sturdy plastic so it should be able to handle the perils of a women's handbag.

Pigmentation: The colours don't pop out but they all work well together to provide a smokey effect.

Conclusion: If you are just starting out with make up, these Expert Wear Eyeshadow quads are the best place to start. As mentioned, the colours are chosen to suit each other well and on the back of the pack are instructions on where to put each shade on the eye, as well as the order of the application of each shade. And for those who can't be bothered checking the back of the pack, the shadows have the location of where to apply written on the shade itself. Always try to ensure you use primer.

Make Up Style - Pink Gems

"They try to steal them from her but she's got them memorised."

Products used:

Primer: Lime Crime Candy Eyed Primer
Eyeshadow:
(Sugarpill) Bulletproof, Magentric
Eye Liner: Nyx Eye/Eyebrow Pencil - 901 Black
Mascara: Maybelline XXL Pro Extensions (Step 1 only),  Cool Betty Natural Fibre, Cool Betty Mascara

A simple look for today. I wanted to make it girly but also defiant. I am so close to getting all my car registeration issues fixed (the mechanic side is finally done) and after a week of having to deal with something that is more of a guy thing (i.e. cars), I wanted to make a style that evened out things a little.

After putting the primer on, I applied Bulletproof and then Magnetic on top, simple! Having Bulletproof as a base helps bring out Magnetic's colour.

You might have noticed my lashes are a bit different this time. I know I just made a recent post about loving the Maybelline mascara, but I think I have found my new fave! I'm playing around with it and will make a review on it soon.

Maybelline XXL Pro Extensions - Very Black/Noir Intense Review

I saw this quote (above) on someone's FB status and thought I'd share. Forgot how it exactly goes but it's something like that.

2012 has begun here in Australia and it's such a beautiful day! Can't see any clouds and the sky is such a pretty blue! Let's begin with a review of a product I love using!

Cost (Aus): $19.95 (in store)

Packaging: This mascara comes with an applicator on both ends. One for the primer and the other for the mascara. If you're a first time user of this kind of two-step mascara, the brushes are attached to the middle section. The bristles on the primer wand is a lot longer and more spaced out than the mascara, which I find helps spread the lashes apart, prepping it for an easier application of the mascara.

Staying Power: Stays on all day. Never had any problems with it wearing off. You probably already know this,  (I actually sometimes forget so I feel the need to say it), make sure you wait for the mascara to dry! Because I don't curl my lashes (I need to find a curler that works, if you know any please let me know), I blink and sometimes they actually reach the skin below my eyes and it leaves some mascara there.

Conclusion: If you have looked at my make up styles you would probably know by now that I LOVE using this mascara. It really does thicken my lashes (pictured below) and makes them longer. I also really like the primer because it allows me to put on other colours, (using eye shadows). Like what I did here. I'm not sure how strong that staying power of using eye shadows for your lashes would be though.

Edit:

Sorry! I forgot to show how it looks! Great start to 2012 huh? :P I tried my best to take pictures using the same angle and such. Sometimes, when I want to make my lashes really thick, I apply the primer on top of the first application of mascara once it's dried and then apply the mascara again. If that feels too weird for you, you can apply a second application of primer (before the mascara) but you have to make sure the primer is dried first. I find though, that doing this is not as effective as the way I do it.

New Year! Make Up Style - Vine Time

"She pulls at the string which controls her and grows a garden."

Products used:

Primer: Lime Crime Candy Eyed Primer
Eyeshadow:
(Sugarpill) Dollipop, Afterparty, (Lime Crime) Abracadabra, Twilight, Shoe Addict, Lime Criminal, (Nyx) LP02 Pearl, LP19 Mink Pearl
Eye Liner: MAC Superslick Liquid Eye liner,
Nyx Liquid Crystal Liner LCL 108 Crystal Pewter
Mascara: Maybelline XXL Pro Extensions (Step 1 only), (Lime Crime) Lime Criminal

I won't have time to blog tonight as it's New Years Eve now so here's a quick make up style I made a few days ago. I know I've been focusing on a lot of make up styles this past week but I have written up a few reviews for the new year.

I don't have any coloured mascara so I simply apply mascara primer and brush eyeshadow on top. It works pretty well although, I don't trust this technique will last all day. But who knows!

So that will be all for 2011! I wish you an advance happy new year! May 2012 be a great year for everyone and best of luck for any new year resolutions you may have!

Make Up Style - Temptation

Products used:

Primer: Lime Crime Candy Eyed Primer
Eyeshadow:
(Sugarpill) Love +, Bulletproof
Eye Liner: NYX Slide On Pencil SL07 Jet Black, MAC Fluid Line Black Track, MAC Superslick Liquid Eyeliner
Mascara:
Maybelline XXL Pro Extensions

This was my look for the Christmas Eve dinner with my boyfriend's family. I was hoping to achieve a look with more colours but I was running out of time and in the end, rushed this style (so there's a few things that need to be fixed). The dress I was wearing was black and white with a red belt so that's where I grabbed the colours for my eye shadows from.

Sugarpill 4-Color Palette - Burning Heart Review

Cost (US): $34

Packaging: This palette comes in a handy flip case with a mirror, which is held together with a magnet. The graphic is quite grungy and rebellious but still holds a feminine feel to it. On first glance the case looks strong but the material is actually a hard cardboard.

The shadows are pressed so I worry about the stray particles falling onto the other shades. To fix this, after each use, I dab a tissue to pick up the loose powder and just to be safe, I insert a square of tissue paper between the palette and mirror so the mirror stays clean when it's closed.

Pigmentation: This is the brightest brand of eye shadow I own. I have tried it without primer (mixed with water) and it was still pigmented, and even stayed on quite well.

Conclusion: I wish they had more than nine of the matte colours. I really love these. You don't need much to get a really strong colour. The colours are just so gorgeous.

Side Note: I have had very good experience with their customer service where my Bulletproof eye shadow was practically destroyed when I received it. The owner replied and quickly, apologised and said she will be sending a replacement and that I didn't have to send the old one back. It was very easy. No issues, no hassles.

Eye Shadow: Sugarpill - Buttercupcake, Poison Plum, Flamepoint, Lime Crime Medusa,
Nyx Nude Pearl

Primer: Lime Crime "Candy Eyed" Primer
Mascara: Maybelline XXL Pro Extensions
Eyeliner: Maybelline Line Definer Noir - Black

Make Up Style - Clubbing

I'm going to do things a bit different today. I love make up and I love experimenting with different styles, particularly eye shadow. Below, is a style you can adopt for the clubs. If you want to be a bit more out there, just extend the shadows upwards, towards the brow. It's preferable to use fake lashes but I don't really use them.
Products used (I will be reviewing these products eventually):

Primer: Lime Crime Candy Eyed Primer
Eyeshadow:
(Lime Crime) Mirror Mirror, (Sugarpill) Bulletproof

Eye Liner: MAC Fluid Line Black Track
Mascara: Maybelline XXL Pro Extensions
